Gradient Coating of Laser Cladding TiB2/Ti-Based Alloy on Titanium Alloy Surface

The technology of the TiB2/TiB cladding layer addresses issue insufficient wear resistance cup-shaped parts composed titanium alloy materials. In order to eliminate cracking problem laser TiB2/Ti-based alloy, 30%TiB2/Ti-based gradient coating was prepared on surface by in this study. results revealed that microstructure matrix and is metallurgically bonded. microstructures appear as rod-like coarse-grained features surface, fine needle-like small-grained morphologies inside. TiB precipitated situ from melt has a flat interface with Ti exhibits low degree interfacial mismatch, while between small particle-like wavy high mismatch. gradual increase amount present bottom layer, unmelted TiB2 particles decreases. chemical structure mainly presented TiB2, α-Ti phases. maximum hardness 725 HV0.2, where it more than twice substrate. fretting better substrate under loads (50 N–100 N), load (more 150 N) triggers reverse outcome.
